Considerations
stub
The following considerations should be taken into account for this guideline:

Bandwidth
Text formats do not have a large impact on bandwidth, but images do. An article with many graphic examples may take a long time to load, but most browsers will cache these images in case the user revisits the page. Bandwidth of the Sudopedia webserver is also a consideration.

If you use images, try to use a size that fits with the text. Use png or gif formats whenever possible. Images in jpg format require more space when only a few colors are used. Although Simple Sudoku produces nice images, they are less suitable for examples, since a large part of the image is filled with borders and 3D effects.

Uniformity
It is not reader-friendly to have examples in all shapes and formats, especially within a single entry. A single format is easier to read.

Copy-ability
Images cannot be copied. Yet, many readers may want to copy and paste the examples into their own Sudoku program. The uploaded image page should at least contain a string that can be copied. This string is just one click away for the reader.

Types of Examples
Each situation may require a different type of example.

Initial Puzzle
Given digits only.

Candidate Grid
Grid with remaining candidates in each cell.

Annotated Candidate Grid
Candidate grid with markings to show a particular pattern. Clarity is important.

Single Digit Pattern
Distribution pattern for a single digit, used in fish related topics.
