Each row is also a house, because it must contain digits 1 through 9.
Rows are usually numbered from 1 to 9 from top to bottom, and thus named R1 to R9. Alternatively, rows can be identified by letters A through I. To avoid confusion with digit 1, letter J or K are used for the bottom row. The row and column identifications are also used in naming cells.
In solving techniques which affect either rows or columns, the term line is used to represent a house that can either be a row or a column.
