Cage-splitting
From Sudopedia, the Free Sudoku Reference Guide
Jump to navigationJump to searchUsing the 45 rule, sometimes multiple cells are sticking out of the selected houses. When this happens, you can split the cage into 2 smaller cages.
Example
The green cage can be split in 2 smaller cages FG2 and G34.
13 + 18 + 24 + 14 + 11 + 15 - 90 = 5, so G34 = 5 and FG2 = 6.
